What Synapse processes
When you deliberately start live research, Synapse processes your question and the resulting source-backed map to provide the feature.
The service also processes an anonymous installation credential, App Attest security evidence on supported devices, notification and briefing preferences, an encrypted APNs device token when you enable notifications, StoreKit subscription status, privacy-minimized delivery records, monthly allowance records, and aggregate provider-usage counts.
What Synapse does not collect
Synapse has no user account, advertising identifier, advertising SDK, third-party analytics SDK, behavioral reading profile, contact access, location access, or photo-library access. Synapse does not receive payment-card details; Apple processes App Store payments.
Questions asked inside an already open map, Counterpoint audits, and suggested prompts run from the validated map on the device and are not sent to the research service.
Storage and retention
Saved maps remain in the app sandbox until you delete them, delete all Library data, or remove the app. Research jobs and generated server results are removed after seven days by default. Provider-attempt operational records are retained for up to 90 days, and privacy-minimized delivery, subscription, and service-control records for up to 180 days.
Encrypted operational recovery material excludes research questions and generated results and is retained for no more than 24 hours. APNs tokens are encrypted at rest. Raw StoreKit payloads and payment information are not stored.
Service providers and original sources
Live research is processed by the Synapse service and its configured AI provider. Provider requests use non-retention controls where available. Original publication links open outside Synapse; each publisher controls its own website and privacy practices.
Your choices
You can delete or export saved maps, remove Radar targets, unfollow Storylines and delete their local history, pause alerts, change notification topics and quiet hours, disable briefing schedules, restore or manage an App Store subscription, change notification permission in iOS Settings, or remove the app and its local data.
